This map shows 189 amusement and theme parks in the United States, from the big destination resorts to classic family parks. Search for a park or a town, or open Filters to pick a state. Each park links to its history.
What the map shows
- California has the most: 22, from Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood to Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain. New York (19), Florida (17), Pennsylvania (13) and New Jersey (12) follow.
- Central Florida has the biggest cluster of major parks: Disney's four (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom), Universal's three, including Epic Universe, which opened in 2025, plus SeaWorld Orlando and Legoland Florida.
- The newest park on the map is Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, which opened on July 1, 2026, for families with young children.
- Pennsylvania is home to some of the oldest parks still running, including Kennywood near Pittsburgh and Knoebels, which still has free admission.
- Six Flags is selling seven parks to EPR Properties, which will keep them open. Six Flags America in Maryland closed after its 2025 season and isn't on the map.

How this map was made
The parks come from Wikipedia's list of operating amusement parks in the United States, plus its list for Central Florida, keeping each park that has its own article and a location. Each was checked against Wikidata for a recorded closure, and the list against 2025 and 2026 news of parks opening, closing or never opening: we left out Six Flags America and Wild Waves (both closed), and a planned Miami park that was never built. Parks change hands and close, so if one has closed, let us know and we'll update the map.
